These tea bags are for anyone who doesn't own a tea strainer yet or just doesn't want to deal with the clean up after a brew. Stick with the authentic method, the stove top ritual but simply drop the bag into the compost when you're done.
How to Use:
-
Scoop 1 or 2 tablespoons of chai mix into the bag and pull the cotton drawstring tight.
-
Drop the bag directly into your saucepan and run the double boil method. Give it a little extra time to simmer since the tea and spices are a little more confined than usual.
-
When finished, carefully lift the bag out with a spoon (it will be hot) and press it against the side of the pot to extract the liquid.
-
Throw the entire bag straight into your food waste or home compost bin. Zero cleanup required.
We specifically sourced these in an extra-large size (9x13cm). When you boil authentic masala chai, the whole spices and tea leaves expand. If you pack them into a standard-sized teabag, they form a solid brick and ruin the extraction. These over-sized bags give the heavy ingredients the physical room they need to brew properly in the pot.
They are manufactured in Scotland from unbleached, 100% plastic-free paper. They are sealed using compression and ultrasound, meaning no microplastics or bleach dioxins will seep into your pot.
